New York Live Arts' DTW Commissioning Program funds new work from some of the most forward-thinking artists working today. Each commissioned artist receives their choice of an extended technical residency in the theater, or fully subsidized rehearsal time in the studio.
The Resident Commissioned Artist program was created in 2011 by New York Live Arts to address what we perceive to be an overall lack of support for mid-career artists. The program is by-invitation only and offers a salary, health benefits, two years of residency time and a commission of a new work to premiere at New York Live Arts. Select works will then be chosen for a fully produced national and/or international tour managed by New York Live Arts.
The Studio Series is a research laboratory for physical explorations and new movement investigations with a focus on process. Each Studio Series artist is invited to conduct two informal showings to share ideas with an audience in the intimate working space of the studio. Studio Series artists are curated by the Artistic Director in conjunction with programming staff and guest curators from Urban Word NYC and New York Live Arts’ season artists.
